Capsule Review - In the Valley of Elah
In the Valley of Elah (U.S., 2007) – Tommy Lee Jones gives an impressive performance as Hank Deerfield, a father trying to figure out what happened to his son after he returned from Iraq. Through him, viewers are given a rare view of just what war – and in particular the war in Iraq – does to good men. The film is a tad bit long, but it is consistently interesting and heartbreaking. The film was directed by Paul Haggis (Crash) and co-stars Charlize Theron. Tommy Lee Jones was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in the film. (on DVD)
3 and a half stars
